App Development Break-even & Payback Calculator
Separate fixed and per-user costs to estimate operating break-even users and development-cost payback.
Projection model, not a revenue guarantee. Defaults are examples.

Currency selection changes the unit; it does not convert values. Enter every monetary input in the selected currency.

How to use
- Enter measured figures or assumptions using a consistent period and currency.
- Calculate and save a scenario. Change one assumption and compare.
- Copy results or export CSV. Compare projections with observations and revise your assumptions.
Method
Unit contribution = monthly revenue per user − variable cost. Operating break-even users = ceil(fixed costs / unit contribution). Payback months = ceil(development cost / monthly contribution).
Worked example
¥300,000 development cost, ¥3,000 fixed costs, ¥20 revenue and ¥2 variable cost per user at 1,000 users: ¥15,000 monthly contribution, 20-month payback.
Assumptions & limits
Assumes constant users, prices and costs. Excludes taxes, discounting, other capital investment and cash-flow timing. Unavailable payback means the entered conditions cannot recover the investment.

Frequently asked questions
Operating break-even vs payback?
Operating break-even covers recurring costs. Payback recovers the initial investment from cumulative contribution.
Should I include my own labor?
Including the opportunity cost of your own development time makes comparisons more useful.
